Epiphany begins on Jan. 6 and often commemorates the celebration of the Savior’s birth among the Gentile nations. The most basic meaning of the word Epiphany has to do with a light shining into dark places. It can also be used in a figurative way suggesting that someone has finally “seen the light”. It is this more figurative observation of Epiphany which will guide our lessons through this season as we consider some “A-HA” moments recorded for us in the Gospels. The God who was with Elijah would also be with Elisha - and is with each of us today! A message from guest preacher Prof. Joel Russow, from 2 Kings 2:1-12.
In the final sermon in our A-Ha Series, we see God's glory in the transfiguration of Jesus. Today we see glimpses of God's glory in our lives and in His love for us - bless us to reflect His glory to a disadvantaged world beset with sin.
Jesus certainly cares just as much about our heads as He does our hearts!
When you're nowhere near where you want to be, feeling confused, disappointed, sad, angry or wondering what you did wrong, Jesus has some good news for you....
...what you're longing for is "Not As Far as You Might Think."
May we be an influence in the lives of those who need the truth of the love of Jesus while at the same time refusing to be influenced by the confusion and deceptions of the world.
Yes it takes some thought, but once you realize what's been going on in your mind and in your heart and turn your attention to the One who changes it all, it's completely worth it! Jesus is calling for "Your Attention Please."
Even though we look forward to entering the kingdom of glory, God says "Just wait." He asked us to share the life-saving Gospel that has given meaning and purpose to our lives with others.
Everyday and every interaction can be completely changed when you have this "People Perspective."
As amazing as it is that we know Jesus, it may be even more amazing to know that He knows us and that we never need to underestimate our Jesus.
When we find ourselves in dark places, God's answer may not be easy...
but it is powerful when we see in Jesus "Light vs Dark."
