Strategic Planning Team Update
    The Transition Team, formed at the last Congregational Meeting, has been blessed to have a number of dedicated and spiritually blessed individuals on it. Members of the team include Dave Doelger, Lisa Hecht, John Heyerholm, Rita Heyerholm, Sheryl Krause, Jon Meier and Clay Zank.
   The team has been very busy this past summer implementing many of the items that were approved at the June congregational meeting. We have developed job descriptions and job qualifications for each of the five (5) Team Leads that will make up the new Coordination Team. These Team Lead positions consist of one (1) called, three (3) volunteer and one (1) hired individual. Pastor, by virtue of his office, will fill the called position (Word and Worship Team Lead). At this time, I’m happy to announce that Dave Finger (Operations and Finance Team Lead) and Rich Herbst (Benevolence and Fellowship Team Lead) have graciously accepts the Transition Teams request to fill two (2) of the volunteer positions. Thank you Dave and Rich! We are still searching for someone to volunteer for the Outreach Team Lead. Dave, Rich and the Outreach Team Lead will be confirmed into their new roles at the next Congregational Meeting.
   The Transition Team also advertised for the HR Team Lead position, which is a ½ time paid position at Abiding Shepherd. We received six (6) resumes. Out of those, three (3) individual were brought in to interview with the team, using the interview guide that the team developed. We were blessed to have one individual make a great impression during the interview. I am glad to say that we have extended an offer and it has been accepted. Carl Weisheim, former Executive Director at Calvary Academy, will be joining our Congregation and starting in this new position in early November. Please welcome Carl into the Abiding Shepherd flock!
   In addition to all of the above, the Transition Team has also made some small changes to the Constitution By-Laws that were requested at the last Congregational meeting. These will be presented for ratification at our next Congregational meeting.
   While the majority of the “heavy lifting” is behind the Transition Team, there is still work to be done. In the months ahead, the Transition Team will be helping each of the Team Leads to fill the coordinator positions that have been identified for each area. We will also be helping the new Coordination Team get up a running before the Transition Team is disbanded.
